How do print books and other loanable items display in the NHS Knowledge and Library Hub?
Print books and other loanable items are visible in instances of the NHS Knowledge and Library Hub used by libraries using the SWIMS system for circulation. For these libraries, all of these title records will be retrievable in all instances.
Some libraries belong to the SWIMS Network as ‘affiliated’ members and don’t use SWIMS for circulation; these libraries won't see SWIMS records in their instances of the Hub.
Where there is a title record with copies at your home library, and indeed your service if you are multi-site, data about these copies will also appear, namely: location, class number, status, and due date if on loan. For copies at other library services, this detailed data won’t appear.
A list of which locations' data is visible in which instances is available at the bottom of this FAQ.
All records for loanable items display a Request this Item button regardless of whether a local copy is available or not. This will allow users to request or reserve a copy.
