The icon image attached below can be used to link to the NHS Knowledge and Library Hub from your desktop. 


1. Download the file Hub desktop icon.ico below

2. Save Hub desktop icon.ico to your "My Documents"/"Documents" folder.


Windows

Creating the Desktop Icon:

3. Right click on an empty space on the desktop of your computer.

4. Highlight New and then click on Shortcut.

5. Under Type location of the item copy and paste the URL you use to access the NHS Knowledge and Library Hub. Note: Do not copy the URL from your browser address bar. You can find the URL to your local instance in the article What's my local instance? .

6. Click Next and then enter a display name for your shortcut.  We recommend using NHS Knowledge and Library Hub.

7. Click Finish.


Customizing Your Desktop Icon Image:

8. Right click on your new icon and select Properties

9. Click on Change icon.

10. Click Browse and locate the icon file you saved in Step 2.

11. Select the icon file, and click Open.

12. Make sure the icon you want is highlighted, then click OK.

13. Click OK again.



Mac


3. Find the URL for your EDS instance in the article What's my local instance? and copy it to Word or another application.

4. Drag the URL from Word to your desktop to create the shortcut. 

5. Open the icon file that you saved in Step 2. (If you are asked which application to use to open the file, choose Apple Preview.) 

6. Copy the NHS Knowledge and Library Hub image from this file.

7. Right click on the shortcut you have created on your desktop and select Get Info.

8. Left click on the small picture of the current icon at the top of the Get Info window. Choose Edit > Paste in the menu to paste the Hub image in its place. (Make sure you have selected the small image at the top of the window next to the filename, not the larger image lower down.)

9. Rename the icon NHS Knowledge and Library Hub 

10. Close Get Info.
